Not too worried about him being on his boat. Real tired of this lie first mentality in government.

Ha! here's a good one for ya. The Obamanation went to Africa and gave his home country *W* Kenya, 53 million dollars of our money for a voter ID program. Meanwhile, to assure voters in the Democratic party have a good shot at winning elections through voter fraud, he and his lapdog Holder fight voter ID programs tooth and nail in our own country. Hypocrisy? ?....Mel

No Mel, not hypocrisy ... Chicago-style politics. Semantic gesture on my part. Chicago machine-style politics was a case study that I had to go through during my master's program. Eye opening and it really doesn't surprise me to see this President operate in this manner.
I like that comment, Toad ... Lie first, then, if caught ... (nothing happens). See Benghazi for additional references.

To be fair........what would he had done if he wasn't on the yacht? Watch it on tv with everyone else?
Truthfully we'd be better off if the politicians spent a heck of a lot more time on yachts and left us and the rest of the world the hell alone.

Problem wasn't that he was on his yacht, but that they lied about it.

Everyone deserves a day off now and then and I'm certainly not going to deny that to Kerry (or even Obama). I just have a problem with the culture of lying that seems to pervade this administration. And other administrations.

I think that's one of the reasons Texas does so well. Our state legislators are only part timers and have real jobs in the political off season. I figure if they work only part time, they can't do nearly as much damage as full timers....Mel

Mel, you are losing Perry and there seems to be a bit of a scramble over his female based issues. Changes in abortion law and state mandated papilloma virus vaccination for preteen females are en pointe.
Better hope he gets replaced by another conservative or things could change for the worse real fast!

Yeah, Ole Rick needs to lighten up a bit on all the religious right stuff. He tends to be a bit too old fashioned and of course, still wants to be president which I think is not in the cards. I do hope we can find a good replacement as Austin is like the crazy west coast of Commiefornia and we sure as heck don't want that bunch of horses rears running our state.....Mel

When I was working at the local level, the two cities I worked for only allowed part-time elected positions. I recall that the councilmen made about $2.25 an hour! The flip side for us is that, since they were all part-time, we had to work late so that meetings could be scheduled after they were done with their day jobs. Often meant that we were in the office from about 7:30 AM to about 10:30 PM two to three nights a week. None the less, I did respect them for putting in the additional hours with us. They looked at it as a privilege to serve and took their responsibilities seriously.
