I am not a wire wrapper and am not sure I will try, but I have ideas swimming through my head. Sooooo one of the patterns I like is the herring bone wrap but it seems that it is confined to beads, is there away to use a cab not drilled? One way I was thinking might work would be a wire soldered to a back plate glued to the back of the cab or may be using a grooved cab, so would one of these ideas work or does someone here have a better solution?

You might be able to do a prong wrap on a cab, leaving a longer top and bottom straight wire and then do the herringbone wrap around it that way, I think that I will have to try this and then post a photo if anyone would like to see it.

You could also do a sculpting harness to start

That could be interesting. I'd like to see what you come up with Tammy.

OK - I had to try this. If I can get the pictures to post - this was my 3rd attempt. I used 16g for the frame wire and 20g for the herringbone part. I think 18g would have stayed in place better, but I didn't have any. I had to put a curl in the lockdown wire to get the right curve to start the herringbone and my wire wasn't long enough to do more than a couple passes, but all in all - I think it came out OK

Nice wrap. It's hard to think out side the stone for me, but you really nailed it.

That looks good. Great that you could form an idea into a wrap.
