Just finished off this batch. I really like working with obsidian. It seems to cut really easy and takes a great shine. I haven't had any problems with it . We seem to have good karma. I had saved any obsidian slabs I have gotten from members when I have bought assorted slab boxes. The tumbled stones were pieces I broke up from Tony's (Catmandewe) bulk obsidian and some I had left over from Krystee. The hearts were cut on a tile saw, cleavage made with dremmel. Stones roughed in rotary 60 gr, 220 and then lot-o. Hearts were added at 220 stage in rotary and tumbled with the stones. Thanks to everyone who supplied me the rough/ slabs Thanks for looking Bill Whole batch hearts and stones Stones Hearts Some close ups to show the translucency

I really like this batch a lot Bill. The obsidian sure worked great for your hearts. I think I mentioned before that I like the puffy shape your hearts have.

Those turned out great, Bill. I love your hearts. I have my first heart in the Lot-O right now, but the cleavage isn't perfect. Could you show me the bit you use in your Dremmel and tell me where you got it?

Thanks everyone. Rob I use cheap diamond discs. I buy the cheapest ones on amazon. Shipping is usually more than the discs so I usually order some whenever I buy something else on amazon and have gotten into the free shipping zone. I just looked them up and they are $1.19 for 6. Almost free. Ha. The quality is variable between packages. Some are really dull some are great. With the good ones I can cut 5-10 cleavages without them getting too dull. I cut the hearts on cheap tile saw into kite type shapes and then dremmel Heres a couple pics of my primative process Slabs/ sharpie and some sweet cardboard templates My awesome saw It's a joke storage.proboards.com/1258779/a/wrvpu32MCHAFrkAibLA2.pngDremmel/ diamond discs- The flex handle is a must After tile saw After dremmel Throw into the tumbler and wait a long time... Pghram- I polish with rockshed 1000 AO Thanks all Bill

Wow Bill, I couldn't have asked for a better explanation than that! It's even illustrated! I just bought the same Dremmel, so I'm almost ready to go. Give me a co hole months and I'll be posting some pictures. I can't wait. Thanks Bill!
