I picked this up a few weeks ago from an estate of Lou Irons an old time rock shop owner in Phx. I was hoping to make a sphere from it but it is too fractured. It has some nice poppy's, not sure what to do with it at this point. Any ideas where it is from? Thanks, Tim

It looks like a lower grade Morgan Hill

Thanks guys. That was my guess as well, but I have never seen rough, only higher end slabs.

Stoney Creek... which may also be Morgan Hill? Dunno, I have a couple of lbs of slabs of this exact rock, tho not as fractured. You can get poppies, brecciated parts, fire engine reds, and yellow brecciated... and some look like abstract paintings: If you slab it, maybe there will be clearer parts inside?

Oh, it takes a great polish too (this is a little broken off piece I rough shaped and threw in tumbler). It's VERY hard rock too:
