Most of you have seen the polls I put up about this trip. The results are in. It's the North Cadys for November 15-16-17. I thought we could meet friday night go in, and set up camp. Hunt saturday and sunday AM, and then head out. 4WD only. I am planning to meet up with Lowell for a "pre-run". I met Lowell, and have published the campsite he suggests. That way everyone can just head in and not wait out by the freeway for a caravan. Less dusty that way too! I really want this to be an epic trip. Lot's of folks have shown interest. Guide - someone who knows what the hell they are doing. Planner, Navigator(??) - @shotgunner - Cartographer - someone to put the plan to maps - pre-trip at least. LarryS is doing this for us. We need to fond him some nice stuff. Trip Report - Tommy - take/gather images write up trip report Potluck Committee - Need potluck committee! Prize Committee - someone to find & organize some prizes for the attendees. We most certainly need a prize for the attendee farthest from home. Gift Committee - someone to organize and send out the gifts to the folks that donated prizes - we should have plenty of north cady stuff to share. Rockswap Committee - <'))))>< Fish Dan - Does anyone know the coords of the fluorite mine? Jean got me coords for the entrance to the valley that contains the fluorite mine. Looks like lots of digging happening in that valley. PRIZES are starting to come in- roy is donating something nice from his rock webstore to the person who takes home the largest stone. Need a prize for farthest travelled to attend too, plus anything else creative minds decide. Camp here: Exit I-15 at Basin Rd go south past the very first hill (a few hundred yards) turn left and we'll all gather there Friday night. Up for breakfast and when we're all ready we can head in to the fluorite mine first.

Hey Scott
When you guys make the pre-run, can you let us know if we need something taller than a regular 4x4. I have an Explorer 4x4 that's stock, but has been in as far as the sagenite area, Pepto Bismol Hill, etc. As long as we don't need a high lift truck I'm okay. There's supposedly a "new" collecting area in a large valley on the west side of the wash that runs north/south. Haven't been there yet.

Yeah I'm curious about that too - I had to reallocate the money I was going to use to lift my truck and get bigger tires - so for me its stock Tacoma accessible or I'm in trouble.

stock tacoma 4x4? It's what I drive. I cannot imagine any place in our desert it cannot go. I have been so many places in a Datsun 510 I took it almost everywhere but up steep hills. Mine was pale yellow, but just like this one. Very light car floated across patches of sand!

Mine was a 510 (I fixed it) little newer/older. More square body style. Mine was more vomit than piss colored. Very pale and faded yellow.

I'll be there in spirit, with Jake and my Ford F 100. Somebody pee on a creosote bush for me, and bring back lots of pics to share.

Many a creosote bush out in that desert and surrounding hills has been watered by me in past years. Jake wasn't born yet, so he never got the chance.

I fixed the car. It was a 510, not 210. More BMW like... lol
Jake has a good boss.

Scott,
I won't be able to make the trip on your weekend. The Oxnard Gem and Mineral Show is that weekend and their focus is Agates. They pulled me aside last year and twisted my arm to put in a couple cases.
I am planning a trip into the Cady's November 2nd (Saturday) and I'm hoping to have a couple other people with me I know. I'll PM you the particulars. I believe you said you have plans on Sunday. Let me know if tentatively that works for you.
I AM ENVIOUS!!!!!

Count me in! I have a Honda Pilot that has never been off road before. Don't laugh too hard at my lack of off roading skills.

Hi everyone;
I just wanted to confirm with all you guys and gals that I will be meeting Lowell out there on November 2. He will show me where to camp and where Pepto Bismol hill and other famous spots are.
My plan moving forward is to mark GPS coords for the various spots, publish the camp spot here and share the others in person. By publishing the camp spot, everyone can make their own arrival times and simply meet up at camp.
BUT! Ya gotta go to know where everything is!
Does this work for everyone?
