Getting back to rocks as a brief departure from bugs, caves, snakes and politics (but I repeat myself in that last one) here are a few Botswana cabs I've cut recently. Rick, I am curious where you got the rough? A lot of the stuff available out there is not very good quality. Where do you suggest? Thx.

Thanks everyone for all your nice comments. To answer Mark's questions, the rough came from The Gem Shop in Cedarburg, WI. They usually have a good supply but now and then there's a "dry" spell between shipments from Africa. I carefully study the best orientation of the nodule before slabbing. They're often chipped and offer clues about the interior pattern. Whole nodules have to be cut "blind" and not every one is going to be a winner. These cabs were cut from "the cream of the crop."
