Getting back to rocks as a brief departure from bugs, caves, snakes and politics (but I repeat myself in that last one) here are a few Botswana cabs I've cut recently. I really like fortification agates of all kinds and Botswanas with tight fortification bands -- especially the ones showing a bit of rosy pink -- are some of my favorites to cut. Sometimes they show "shadow" (parallax) which makes them especially interesting. Thanks in advance for checking these out. Rick Big pear: Freeform: Tongue: Big oval:

Really nice, I love Botswana Agate and always keep a few slabs in my "toolbox" to give my new students something nice to cut. I'm generally the one that slabs rocks that people bring into the club so get to pick a few choice slabs of all sorts of things to give to new starters as their first cabs. Its school Holidays here and we had half a dozen youngsters in today with their parents and grandparents. They turned out some fabulous stuff. With talent like this I think our hobby is in good shape for the future.

Those look expensive. That has to be a high level compliment. Really nice ones. I guess it is the composition that is so well done. The arrangement of the bands. Material and shine crazy. A lot to talk about

I really like how you got those layers to stack and show. Did you do some work on them with the trim saw before you tumbled? Great work and nice shine Rick. Thanks.
