Awesome trip!! How about a summary of places traveled? I think I figured most of them out :-)
A PET WOOD PETRIFIED WOOD NEAR WOODRUFF This spot was as awesome as always. After I reached the top of the normal hill #2, I kept going along the ridge top and followed it to the end. It goes way back. It is a real pain in the ass to haul the stuff, and I suspect that is why there is so much really good stuff there. I found a new way in that is much shorter and faster to get in.
B AZ61 FOREST ROAD 303 ONYX Found a better deposit just a little ways back down the hill where the hill looks like there is nothing but crap. The stuff looks like the best yet.
C N 33 27 22.5 W 113 02 26.3 SADDLE MOUNTAIN I found a good bag full and left. I really wasn’t as into it as I could have been.
D MUSHROOM JASPER MINE Got a load of stuff here. Perhaps the very best yet.
F AZ18 BULLARD MINE COPPER MINERALS I crawled down into the lower mine and there was nothing there. It dead ends with nothing of any interest.
G AZ10 33 49 17.3 N 114 04 12 W WEST OF PLOMOSA ROAD HQ BANDED AGATE Some xxxxxx decided to blow the hell out of the place with big explosives. The good vein is buried under hundreds of tons of shit. It turns out the good side has good stuff way the hell back up and over. It makes for a lot of work to get the stuff out. Also, the crappy side has a lot of good solid stuff too, you just have to go up the other side from where I was before. I need to map out the way in as it is a real sucker to get in or out.
H AZ8 34 06 00 N 113 55 41 W GREEN STREAK MINE MALACHITE, CHRYOCHOLLA never found road to get in again Turn off is at 34.097559° / -113.898509°. Stay on road, not washes.
I AZ7 34 09 06.4 N 113 48 56.7 W GOLD HILL MINE MALACHITE 20 some miles to go and a closed gate. This is where the pig and the puddle was and where I found the caterpillars.
BURRO CREEK AREAS I tried a couple of these spots because I was so far ahead of schedule. The apache tear spot has bad coordinates. It wants you to drive where it is impossible to drive. Or, at the very least, walk a mile and a half. The road in behind the Nothing store was a disaster because the road suddenly went to crap. The reason for this is because I took the wrong road. I should have went to the left.
J AZ39 34 17 46 N 113 40 22 W CACTUS QUEEN MINE COPPER MINERALS This was a nightmare. I couldn’t find it at night and had no better luck the next day. Before I ever consider this again, I need to look up the spot on Google earth and find the correct location of the road in. Also, there is a spot where the gps tells you to go off road somewhere around 9 miles from the spot. This is wrong. Just keep on going down the road any way. Chicken springs to Alamo crossing or Signal road to Alamo Crossing works good. Taking Alamo all of the way from Yucca sucked. There was a shit load of rabbits and a bobcat ran out in front of me. The turn off to the mine is at 34.298673° / -113.671814°
K NO COORDINATES YET BRENDA First stop, I accidently blundered into the gem chryso spot. After I finished at the gem spot, I decided to go and try to find some agate. I stopped at one likely looking spot and found some really nice stuff. I filled one bag full. I headed out towards the way out because I was not sure where I was. I decided to stop again and get more agate, just for the hell of it. This spot was unexpected to say the least. There was such a high concentration of good stuff in this spot that if I had gotten all that I could have, I could have loaded the truck so full that it would not move.
At this time, I sat in town in Brenda and looked at my options. I decided that I have too much weight in the truck to try to go to the CA spots. Instead, I decided to just go to the tar pits and other cool places.
