Great idea - might have to "borrow" the concept for a few gifts this year - thanks for sharing

Hey Chuck, what a great idea you have taken on.
I have always enjoyed the "different" wine-stoppers that I have come across. I even was silly enough at one point in time to tell my wife that i thought I'd start collecting them. WRONG! I was quickly reminded of all the other items I have hoarded away under the heading "my collection". Now I see a potential for making something that could be gifted to friends and relatives. Who doesn't drink a little wine? Of course, we'd need to keep a few on hand! ; > )
I am wondering Chuck, if you think that it would be possible to use some polished "pre-shaped" beach rocks for the stone? I guess my real question would be how is the stone attached to the actual stainless steel stopper? It appears that the back of your stones are flat, like a cab. Is that correct, or just the photo appearance?
Obviously I would have to get a stopper blank from a source, and then do some measuring and fitting to see if the stone would "set" with the use of a good epoxy or J-B weld? How do your stones attach to your stoppers? Maybe not everyone wants your "secrets", so feel free to PM me if you so choose for more details.
Thanks, "grizman"

Grizman- No secrets involved. The hardware I use looks just like the last photo in this series on both sides. These are just large flat backed domed cabs that I epoxy on to them. These are not my favorite thing to work on due to the size and when I have done these with brazilian agates they take way too long to make any money at it. The flat back part has a male thread at the bottom and threads into the main stopper shaft so if you wanted to mount something else on top I guess its possible that way. Here's the hardware I get (If you order at least a dozen you may be able to get wholesale price which helps) store.abasg.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=ASC&Product_Code=FMTSS&Category_Code=WBSChuck

scott- I call direct to the site I mentioned and get wholsale price on the stoppers, bails, and blank drawer pulls for cab inserts so its a great deal. The site you linked has more options for just stopper parts though.

Chuck if you do not mind me asking, what does a stone topped stopper sell for?
If I am being too personal, I understand. I really love that idea.

scott- I sold a bunch last year at $25 each but lowered them down to $20 this season. I still think $25 is fair due to the size of the cabs but I need to get some stuff to sell so the prices will suffer a bit.
