It looks a little like 'chinese writing stone', but it might be some other brecciated jasper.

I got 2 slabs of this on ebay about 6 months ago. I will look for pics tonight (I usually save the auction pictures). I might be able to look back and find the seller.

tandl Ted, wth? Did you take a picture of your computer screen? It is possible it's that "crinoid marble" coming from china?

not a marble. a slightly softer jasper. I have seen it called Montana Bark Jasper. www.greatslabs.com/slabs_jasper_montana-bark.shtmlalso not brecciated. a greatslabs.com says dolomite-like incorporating some kind of gravel or debris. is there fossil dolomite?

Yeah , i was thinking limestone . could have been affected metamorphically . it will make great cabs. Daniel - greatslabs is the same stone . the other is not .

I agree the two sites have different stones. It makes me think greatslabs has mis-identified it as a dolomite.

Marble/Dolomite/Magnesite all the same thing to me. I like it. tandl how does it polish? I love you took a pic of your computer screen to post an image.
