This is a piece we found this weekend on the Cadys trip - side-trip to Lavic area. The end of the rock I whacked off had a beautiful area of fortified agate - unfortunately it was very shallow except for right in the middle - and the end of the rough had a big pointed ridge and most of the agate had to be ground away Slab front Slab rear Thanks for looking

Pretty rock from a "picked over" collecting area.

Scott sent me some Lavic Tommy. It is fine material. I am tumbling a couple pounds and should have some ready in a couple months.
That is certainly top grade. And you polish is wow. So it tells me it will take a fine polish. Most agates/jaspers that break with a waxy face will polish well. I thought hard about going w/you guys. You are fortunate that i did not go and bug y'all to death.LOL. Jean and Scott would have tamed me. So would the awe i would be in from rock hunting out there.

I've collected maybe 10 buckets of Lavic jasper over the years and made countless slabs/cabs out of this messy stuff. By far this is the prettiest cab I've ever seen to come out of that place. Job well done Tommy. Next time you come down south, take me with you! Beginners luck. Also want you to pick my lottery numbers while you're at it! Keep the pics coming.
If you haven't found out yet, Lavic rock snot stains your clothes, murder on whites. You'll hear that from your wife.

We would have tamed you? I have a feeling it would have been more me against the two of you, lol! But we both did miss you, you would have had a great time.

Tame me? Are you suggesting I am wild? Moi? I am not wild, you can ask Scott! Wait, better not. He just might tell you the truth...
James, I may be a troublemaker, but I am not wild.

Wow what a shine Tommy! Lavic can be a problematic material but you did that one up real fine and I love the agate center....Mel

That lavic jasper cab is fantastic and reminds me a bit of Chinese orangey pietersite, Looking forward to slabbing/cabbing some myself soon!
