In Jr's defense, I enjoy looking at his pretty rock pictures and am not offended by his ads. I've purchased from him a time or two and hope to visit his shop some day. Considering a lot of what he has to offer is pretty scarce stuff, well photographed and of high quality, I also don't think his prices are out of line. JR seems to be a nice fellow and I'm sure if you just drop him a note and ask to be removed from his mailing list, he would do so......Mel

Have you sent him a personal message? I found out with hackers that is the worst thing you can do. I'm confused. Who is a hacker? IMO, this thread here as it reads is just plain stupid. It is likely ineffective, and even if effective it is ugly. A pm or even an email message explaining the concern is what should be done. My guess is that there is some issue managing email lists, which makes sense when a small vendor used a semi-canned web site and has no IT department. This public rant, or this attempt as some sort of public extortion/shame is just ugly and stupid.

I'm with Mel. I know and have dealt with JR, been at his place, etc. An email to him would be appropriate. Depending on where you are, what you want and any other number of variables, his prices are not out of the norm. Besides, I like to look at the pix!

At one point I talked through some site to someone who took me off. Now lately I have been getting spammed. Other methods do not work so I cam here where he himself will see the message. I removed the posts only to make you all happy.
This does not mean that I am not tired of getting multiple spam emails from his company. It has been more than 24 hours since I got the last bunch. It would appear that someone saw the message and did something.

Hmmmm multiple emails. I only get one about every month. I have purchased a far amount of material from JR. Never felt he was over priced. The Quartz crystal he had was the lowest price I could find and the best quality.

The prices are immaterial. The issue is the constant re- emailing multiple time in a day and the return even after I unsubscribed.
Just because he is your friend does not mean that he is above reproach. Trying to spin the point away from the issue at hand is not going to fix the issue.
The issue is that I have tried just about every other option there is other than getting raw.
Getting an email from him does not bother me. Getting multiple ones over and over again AFTER I have unsubscribed does. One a day is not bad. However, when I delete one or two, or three, and then, an hour later, there are 1,2 or 3 AGAIN, this is the issue. PLUS, I blocked the email addy and still keep getting them.
However, as I said earlier, They have now stopped.
If I could remove the thread, I would.
If they returned, I would try again.

I am on JR's email broadcast too. May I provide a different perspective? You mentioned one email at a time is fine, but multiples of the same is not. I am not getting any multiples from JR. I will suggest that maybe your POP server is not properly deleting the emails as you download. Then the next time your email client POP's, the server sends it over again, and again, until it the server deletes it properly. I have first hand experience with this phenomenon. Might even be a setting in your POP client (delete from server on download) Are there any OTHER emails you are seeing multiple times? The possibility that the issue is NOT JR's is the reason why deb193redux criticized your choice to put this thread here. The lapidary community is relatively small. Problems like these may be solved in less aggressive manner 99.999% of the time. I do indeed hope my post is useful for you.

I am not out to hurt him nor to make him look bad. I just wanted the emails to quit.

I am not out to hurt him nor to make him look bad. I just wanted the emails to quit. If that were true you would have accomplished it without the defamatory original post that you now have removed. The fact that you have removed that post illustrates your original intent.

No, it does not. The intent was to remove the entire thread. It did not work.

No, it does not. The intent was to remove the entire thread. It did not work. You removed yours, I removed mine, but the others must also remove theirs.
