Yesterday I drove up to the Northern coast of Fife with my dad to have a look for some agates. We were up early, and the weather was good, if a little cold (0 degreesC). We got a nice collection of smaller pieces, mainly found on Tayport beach. Ill put some of these through the tumbler. Alot are really too small to do anything with but I enjoyed finding them. I've only ever found three before so was very pleased with yesterday's result!

Congrats on the finds! The blue one at the 2 o'clock position in the second photo is really pretty!

looks like you did really great on that trip. Like the poppies and the orange/green one just right of the larger striped one in the center of image #1. Please show us the finished tumbles too.

Thanks folks!
My tumblers are all fully employed at the moment but as soon as one is free, these will be going in.

Beauty is all around. Pity those that never look! So true! One of my other hobbies is wildlife photography. If you don't stop and have a look around you never know what's really there!

Nice update and great to see photos of the area. Thanks for the cool report, I can't wait to see the tumbled stones.

Here's one from my first trip polished (this was middle left on the first photo of this thread). I didn't get it perfectly smooth all over as I was worried I would lose alot of the eye features if I kept tumbling it for weeks more. If I had a lap grinder I could have got a better result but I love it anyway. Here are the others after a week of tumbling. I just rinsed them off, took a few snaps and sealed them back up again with fresh grit. Interesting to see how they are now showing their true colours and features from the other pictures above. Ignore the rogue tigereye!

Took another trip up there last weekend. Tried a different location and hit the jackpot - a full day's searching in the cold and continuous rain gave us this lot. Much bigger pieces and many whole. I am going to have to invest in a saw etc to get the best from these...

You are on the "slippery slope" but hitting bottom on this one is awesome!

Been back for another day of hunting last weekend: Lapidary equipment is hard to come by in the UK, so I looked out my old tile saw: Spectators at a safe distance My first cut agate: Unfortunately it cracked on a fault. Cut some more but an hour later the spray was making me wet, and I got too cold and started cramping up. Forgot to take pics as I just needed to heat up! Got a bigger better tile saw delivered this week, and loads more rocks to open up, hopefully will get time this weekend! Thanks for looking in. Ian
