I'm getting back into the swing of things, so hopefully I will be posting more cabs. Boulder Opal Chrysocolla/Malachite or Shattuckite Malachite Varacsite A couple of Royal Velvet Obsidian And a Laguna Agate A little darker

Yep. Great show. For me though the malachite leaves all the others behind. I never tried that stuff. I'm not ready to work malachite and I'm not going to risk it until I'm absolutely sure that working it will not give me any health problems.

Then you'd probably never want to live in a house with copper water pipes I've cut lots of malachite with no ill effects -- and I'm absolutely sure I'm not going to die young. Cutting a few stones is safe as houses. The people I worry about are the poor Congolese cutters who eke out a small living by grinding and polishing the stuff 24/7 with primitive equipment and no safety considerations. Use lots of water while grinding and sanding. Wear rubber gloves because most of the copper is absorbed through the skin. Use a respirator if you feel the need. And be aware that most copper minerals used as gems pose the same general amount of risk. Rick

Kinda digging the copper stuff (I am a sucker for copper!) but I also really the like "sunny side up agate" on the bottom. Way coolio.

THe royal velvet is superb, but I also like A LOT the way you combined the shape and the pattern of the malachite.
