Hello all,
I got this rock from a friend of mine.....I am not too sure what it is exactly. Please tell me what you think it is:
front
back
Can you see the little circle window down on the lower left hand side? This rock definitely has the feel of an agate; Its hardness and texture....hmmmm Thanks for looking Kelly

The bottom one looks like it could be St. Johns Flower Agate, from Texas. Rick

Looks like a quartzite to me. You should check the hardness. If >6 it is probably quartzite, which is metamorphosed sandstone, but if <6 it would be something else. You should also check the translucency. If it is translucent, it could be a quartz (chalcedony/agate).

I agree with garyboothe, Quartzite. St. Johns Flower Agate does not have quartz. It is also from Arizona. Up near St. Johns, Arizona. They blew out the material so it often is terribly fractured. Sheri
