Here is what I have been slabbing the last two days. Between bouts of coughing, sleeping and feeling miserable with the flu (my wife has it, too) I somehow mustered the energy to go down to the shop and do a bit of slabbing. Over the last few months I have washed and sorted over 200 buckets of rocks that got donated to our club in preparation for our rock sale at the show in early March. I keep an eye out for unusual rocks that I set aside and slab for our monthly meeting's silent auction. This is one of those unusual ones. It is Chapenite. It has an unusual pattern throughout the piece. Here is what the rough looks like. Bob

The brecciated component is so cool. Then surrounded by the 'hull'.

Very interesting looking material. You must be hardcore to be slabbing while having the flu. Get well soon! Larry C.

What an interesting pattern! Is this Chapenite a sort of septaria?

That's beautiful! More interesting than typical chapenite, with that pattern.
