Cathy, that sounds like reason enough to me. With a Dremel, you can use the daintiest pressure, and you have a lot more control than with a long, hard file. I think files work better on flat surfaces.

I got my radial bristles in the mail. WOW! I don't know how I managed without them. They don't take the place of filing, but they make quick work of polishing.

Thanks for that pdf Pat. I only saw it last night. For some reason my pdf plug in crapped out on my Firefox and I had to get another. I just watched a video by Lexi Erickson about hand finishing and she spent a lot of time talking about files. Between this forum and the vid. I feel pretty confident about buying some now.

A couple of things on files and filing,,,, I find it sometimes better to file in only 1 direction and with a single stroke,,,,rather and back and forth motion. At times it may be better to start out with a rougher file and then use a fine file but try to use the finest file for the job at hand. The deeper the scratches,,the more work to get them out later. Keep your files clean by using a "file card",,,, At times it may be better to star out with a rougher file and then use a fine file.A set of 4" long fine needle files are handy to do smaller work. www.seattlefindings.com/Mini-4-Needle-File-Set-12-Extra-Fine-Needles-Cut-2_p_1291.html#Just some ideas to throw out there,,,,, connrock

To add to connrock If you are using metal files, only stroke pushing away from you. Somehow (I forget) it damages the file if you go both ways. Other files can go both ways, but his advice to just go one way might be advantageous there, too. I wish I had known of the file card years ago. Once a metal file is cloggy, it is hard to get it clean. Now I use the file card frequently.
