Yep, Snow doesn't melt in Wyoming, it wears out from blowing back and forth. Some very nice rocks - when you can see them through the "hard water."

Great photo essay of your epic journey, Jim. I imagine you've been treated to a few more of my sunrises since you've been there? Beautiful, but I think lack of cold and snow makes you happier
I've been through Wyoming exactly once, in 1980. Traveling from Iowa through Nebraska and to Yellowstone Park - in late September. Brrr... Pretty country up there.

Looks toooooo Cold........ How do you take pics while driving? On those roads, with the weight attached to the back, my hands would be glued to the steering-wheel. Or, as I don't see any other vehicles on the road, did you just stop in the middle of the road to take them? Looking forward to the pics at warmer locales,......

Oh man, I hate the snow and cold some days but I love Wyoming. Looks like you weren't too far from where I bagged my deer this fall and where I found that fire opal. I can't wait until the weather gets warm and I'm going to hit I80 West to get back out there. I've got my heart set on trophy pet wood, more opal and more sweetwater, Tin Cup Jasper.... now I'm just drooling...
I'm super glad you made it down to Q. Unfortunately I can't come. I was going to do a surprise trip the weekend of the 18th with my 2 oldest, but there are just some conflicts I can't get around so it won't work. I can't do the meetup either for other conflicts. Oh well, maybe one of these years I'll have cash and time and I can fly down there to see everyone and take advantage of the great shopping.
Anyhow, can't wait to see more of your trip pics!

KK, I hold the camera toward what I want to shoot and click several times. If I try to look where I am shooting I go all over the road. It is easy to delete the bad ones.
I hope we can meet up out there sometime. I will be back up there somewhere this summer because I have made a friend that owns a really good collecting area for agate, Apache tears and jasper.
The wind river canyon is one of the prettiest places I have been (summertime only). Jim

So cool to see those pictures. I go by the wind river canyon every year on my way to Yellowstone National Park. I always wondered what those fences were for but had no idea who to ask. Thanks for explaining that.
