I just got pulled over for allegedly speeding.
The officer asked for registration & proof of insurance So I get out of the car to go to the passenger side door. The officer is like: ‘ why you getting out of the car ?’
'Well ya see officer have this 55lbs of tumble ready rock, (in a bucket) blocking the glove compartment. I have to move it to get the documents'. So I move the bucket and spill about half the rocks-- Jaspers & agates hard mohs all over the street! This morning is not starting out well. mostly

It could have been worse. I'm surprised he didn't confiscate them as dangerous weapons . Surely there must be one that kinda resembled a pop tart gun.

O I had lead filled tommy knocker short stub baseball bat by the seat. The officer asked what I was doing with a baseball bat? Told him: 'I'm old man with gray hair and live in this neighbor hood So I was shoveling up rocks while the office was writing me up Told the officer I might have to sell some rocks to pay the ticket I think I'll contest it.

I just got pulled over for allegedly speeding. The officer asked for registration & proof of insurance ...This morning is not starting out well. mostly Sorry for your problems. This reminds me of when I was driving a friend's car from L.A. to Quartzsite (he was not feeling well.) A CHP officer pulled us over a few miles before we got to Blythe. He demanded our "papers" which were in my friend's briefcase in the back of his Toyota hatchback. I was a little road-rummy and, not thinking, reached down to the floor of the car with my left hand to unlatch the back. When I turned my head back toward the officer I was staring down the barrel of a very large caliber handgun. That sort of thing can kind of mess up your day and, possibly, your life.

Your exactly right Rich! I had my hands up most the time... mostly I even said don't shoot me. Its a sinking feeling when those cruiser lights go on yeah Diane I got this '94 Celicia Its a sporty looking little thing & it does move! I like getting through the gears Officer claimed I was going 55 I had just pulled out on Van Buren and stopped for the the red light which was only about quarter of mile travel time, he was behind me no radar so If I did punch it up past 50 it was for a very short distance mostly

The information in your posts here can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Sorry Ed, that cop needed to justify his paycheck. Good luck.

I feel for you, Ed. Agree with Scott, he was probably validating his job. Hey, at least you weren't hot stopped. Happened to my mom and brother once.
Some day, we'll get a ticket heading out that a way. Mr. Leadfoot likes to pull that trailer doing 70 - 75, engine RPMs over 3500. I know your freeways don't have a separate speed limit for trucks with trailers, but I believe 95 to Quartzsite from Yuma is posted at 55 most of the way.
Maybe I'll try to drive out this time. It gets way better gas mileage at 55 - 60, 1800 RPM. Also less wear on that V10. He just don't get it...

Sad but kind of funny story *L*. Here in Texas, we are taught to not get out of the car, keep both hands in sight, and warn the officer that we are packing, so's they don't get all nervous like and shoot someone....Mel

Tough to stay cool when a cop pulls you over for speeding.
Fortunately the judge is more likely to be your age than the cops.
I dont like it when I get pulled over, a busted taillight gives Cops a lot of rights agin you... but if I was a cop I'd err on the side of caution much of the time...as we've heard from our RTH friends, lots of people packing heat out there.

I have 4 options best I know 1.Clog the court system! Dispute the charge and the alleged speed over the speed limit. The officer as me going 20 miles over the speed limit 55 miles an hour in a posted 35 mile zone. That’s $210.00 fine- plus points on my insurance. If I can persuade the judge that I didn’t go over 50 miles an hour I can get that fine reduced considerably. Technically, I really didn’t exceed over 50 miles an hours. But how do you prove it? Mr. Mohs word- against the officer. Yet maybe… this officer won’t show up and the case will be thrown out. 2.Pay $180.00 and attend traffic school. No points on the insurance. But that all day Saturday class. Gets into my grind time big time! 3.Just pay the fine out right 4.Ignore it and go to jail Mostly

Regarding option 1
I my state one cop represents all the cops
But as you said...his word against yours
If you get the right judge (and hopefully dont be in a place where there is mandatory sentencing)

so it doesn't have to be the cop issuing the ticket?

No
One cop reads what the cop wrote on the ticket (basically) So you don't get acquitted cause the cop doesn't show...and it cuts down on paying cops OT to appear in court.
If you are young and male ... you probably dont stand a chance against the cops word...but now that you are wise your word has some weight if you dont come off as a slob, wiseguy, or ahole

Ed, I feel for ya man. I too am the victim of a frame job. This summer I got my very first traffic ticket in nearly 40 years of driving. Total Bulls*it, but I realized the deck was stacked again' me. So , I paid the fine and went from being a conservative law abiding citizen who supports LEOS to the way I once felt years ago, which is authority can kiss my azz. I know there are plenty of 'good' cops, but I also think it takes a certain amount of love for power over others to make most of them tick. Funny how being Fu@ked with will change the ol' attitude.
