Hey gang, I have another ID request for review. I didn't take very good pics of from my work room and never made it out today to get outside pics. I have three materials that I'm stumped on that are very very soft. The three colors are salmon pink, light green/grey and a off white yellow. the greey/gray is fibrous looking when broke. The salmon pink and off white yellow seem to have crystal speckles in it. They are very soft and I can scratch them with my fingernail which leaves a white color powder. They are also smooth and feel like hard soap leaving a waxy feel on my hands. They seem to have all been cut smoothly with a blade at some point. I'm assuming a a great material to carve with but I have never owned anything like this to compare with. When googling soap stone I get very similar results but mostly dark grey for countertop. Google image show many countertops. If this is soapstone does anyone happen to know what possible name or stretching it a possible location. I bought this material in Washington where the retired rockhoud hounded mostly in WA, CA, UT, ID, and OR. Thanks for your help, Matt

The green stuff looks like Montana soapstone that comes from around Dillon Montana but I can not be sure. The pinkish line pieces may be Brazilian soapstone but there are a lot of similar soapstones and alabasters. If you can scratch it with a fingernail it is soapstone and if you can't but it is still pretty soft it is alabaster. The pinkish one looks a lot like a piece of alabaster that I have but if it scratches with a fingernail it is not the same. Doesn't really matter because I do not know where my piece came from.
I just tried to find the place where I used to buy my carving stone and I couldn't find it. If you google carving stone there are a lot of places to look at for comparisons to what you have. Jim
