;D Decided to fire up the 10" Lortone Electric feed saw I picked up a few days back and see how things went. Once I got the thing wiped down a bit I mounted up a really small thunderegg. Only dropped it once and the knuckles aren't skinned too bad from the stuck drive lever .. the one that finally freed up really suddenly. Hmm, OK.. rock mounted, drive lever disengaged, let's see what it looks like when I start it up... Hmm, ok lets clean all the oil out of my eyes, change my shirt and glasses, close the top and try it again! ..grumble.. Must remember to never start the saw with the lid up.... Ok, ready to go again.. plug the blade motor in first.. then plug the drive in.. Hmm, been waiting 5 minutes.. must feed really slow.. Hmm, 10 minutes... tapping foot.. wth is wrong? Ah HA! The light bulb comes on! I forgot to engage the drive lever! The light bulb and everything within a 15 foot radius dissappear in a huge cloud of oil when I forget to turn the blade off before I lift the lid again. Having trouble getting all the small dents out of my body the wife left in me when I wandered across her hardwood floor unable to see and dripping oil.. ahh the shower feels so good on bruises. OK, that's it for the night... I will try again tomorrow once my eyes open again

I can just picture every step of the way. Can just see you after you started the saw up with the lid open. Can just see the look of the wife as you walk across the hardwoods. Can just see the look on you as she give you "the look," and then some. Seems like you had a fun day.

On a 10" you could consider a waterbased coolant. But you will still need to be careful with the lid.
Is there any blade guard at all?
BTW - round thundereggs are not hte easiest to get a good hold in the vise. FOr your initiation you need something about 3x3x6 and flat on bottom.

;D Glad I'm not the only one that's lifted the lid with the blade spinning. Sounds like you're having a blast Grant!! lol... Well now that you and the saw have become acquainted we need to see some slab pictures soon!
Better luck today... Dan

LOL! Sounds like you've been anointed properly. I don't think you'll be doing that twice? Wait a minute you already did! Too funny! Last

leave the lid down for a little while to let the oil mist settle back down so you don't breathe the mist in

Wow! Those are some great cuts Grant! Only suggestion I'd have is to throw them on a flat lap. Great job & those are BIG thunder eggs! YIKES! Last
