I took a few days off from Quartzsite and headed to Phoenix to hang out with my good friend Rodney and go looking for rocks. We are a few days into the trip and I thought I would share some of the trip with my family here.
First afternoon we went to look for moss agates, here is Rodney telling me all about the history of the area

The next morning we headed for Bloody Basin. When we arrived there we found what is left of an old homestead

An old stove, pretty cool looking.

Rodney saw a rock that needed picking up

Then we climbed up the hill to the dig sites to check out the agate areas, here is the view from the dig sites

This hole has a big thick vein of agate at the bottom of the wall but it looked too unsafe for either of us to want to chip on it to try to get a chunk off of it so we left it alone

Some absolute nut dug this hole, it looks like the tree is about to fall over and cover the hole because it has no support left

The inside of the absolute nut hole, the wall is on the other side of the tree, the ceiling of the hole is the tree roots with dirt stuck in them

What I brought back from the hill

Then we headed to the Verde River to find a campsite for the night, the road is very rough and takes quite a while to drive there. We stopped a few times and got some scenery pics.

We finally got to our campsite and set up a tent and made a fire to cook our cans of chili on

I will do the next day in a different post to keep from having too many pictures.
Thanks for looking
