This probably belongs under another heading but thought it would be seen on the first section by more members as they usually start here. Thought this information was common knowledge but it seems as though it is not.
There is a national DO NOT CALL regestry.
1-888-382-1222 Is the no cost number to call. This is a standard computerized answering system. You do not talk to anyone, simply dial the numbers you are asked for and then, the telemarketing calls will trickle down to nothing over a period of 30 days. In the last year, I have had (1) unwanted call, it was from a Sherrifs office in another state asking for donations for protective vests for their deputies.
I told the nice sounding gentleman that:
I would like him to put me on his do not call list I reminded him that vests were tax deductable I gave him the number listed above and told him if I heard from him again I would call it and report the transgression and there goes the office x-mas party fund. Telemarketers work from a monthly published list. Using last months list is illegal. The penalitys and court fees run about half the cost of a new cabbing machine.
Just think, NO monthly fees for caller I.D. and, NO monthly fees for call blocking , SOOOOO,
YA GOT MORE MONEY FOR BUYIN ROCKS !!!!!!!!
Its FREE and it dosen't take more than 2 minutes
Go for it !!!

Signed up a few years ago. Amazing how much all the calls dropped off soon after! One thing though, if you request any type of information from a company they can dodge the so called "NO CALL" list as being a submitted inquiry. Works well though. Thanks for posting this! Last

Yea been on that on for awhile too- All I get now is either "survey" calls- or NFP donation calls- I still tell them to add me to their DNC list but I guess they are above the telemarking law.
