I've wanted to visit Montrose to look for agates for many months but family commitments have not allowed it. My dad and I managed to get time to go about a month ago but its taken a while to post a wee report up. We went early on a morning and the weather was fairly bright and mild. I'd read in books and online that starting at Scurdy Ness and heading south would give the best chance of finding agates on the foreshore. So off we went... After a little while walking round the coast we found a few little agates in the shingle and came across interesting rocks... Views around with agates visible in the bedrock And looking in the opposite direction, Scurdie Ness Lighthouse Interesting finds in the bank... Agates in the bedrock An enjoyable walk had with plenty of loose rocks found, especially around the area near the lighthouse. However, on cutting, many were simply quartz. Some more interesting ones though, and I will shortly have the results to share. Thanks for reading.

Greetings & salutations! Photos are pretty neat. I'll have to find out, in time, how to post photos. Very fascinating the formations and the beds of partially tumbled piles of rock you have there that evidently have been tumbling around for awhile. They look like they may have some possibilities! Thanks for posting. IV
