Went up to a sale at an arts and crafts college and there it was, a Big A$$ Tumbler. Well, big as I want to have anyway. It's a Scott Murray 40 lb tumbler and one of the barrels has never been used. Not saying what it set me back, that would be cruel. Now I need to raid the rock pile.

Somehow I was expecting something winged and furry. Nice score.

Fine looking machine. Congrats on that purchase. I tumble a lot and feel like i own the coarse grit division of Washington Mills.

That's a monster! Even got a carburetor on it!? LOL I was thinking switch the motor out for a V8 and get those tumbling batches done faster. Pat it came with the 2nd barrel but they are both singles with one liner each. It will need new roller covers before I can run it, first load will probably be mostly stuff we find in owyhee with Roy, Tony and the rest. Really looking forward to being able to tumble larger pieces.

That's quite a find, I've never seen a used tumbler that clean, and one barrel never used. Looks like the whole unit was barely used.

It has never tumbled a rock. The college used it for something else, haven't figured out what it was.

"It will need new roller covers before I can run it."
I have never had much luck with roller covers but I have had good luck using Gorilla tape on the roller contact surface of the barrels. Cheap way to go and easy to replace.......MrP

I also have a 40lb tumbler. The weight of the barrel and rock chews through the heater hose I was using on the rollers. I epoxied conveyor belt on the barrel and have good results. A friend rivets serpentine belt on to his 12 lb barrels.
