I have a bunch of rough rock from an old estate, maybe 30+ years old. I'm sorting out my rocks to sell some of the rough I have in storage. A lot of these I have no idea what they are so thought I'd try to get them identified before I try to sell them. #1 - view of cut side - another view #2This one looks like some sort of agate to me. - view of one cut side - view of cut end - view of top #3 Looks to be some sort of agate or agate jasper combo. #4Could this be some kind of lace agate? Closeup view of #4 #5Cut end Back side #6Cut face Side view #7Cut end Closer view of cut end Top view #8Another looks like an agate closer view other side #9The orange looks to be rust staining - it was stored in a metal bucket Side View in sunlight #10This one is the right color I think for Unakite although it doesn't have pink bits in it so I'm wondering if it is low quality jade. broken end back side Don't want to overwhelm you so will post more on another thread. Thanks for the help.

#9 is clearly indian bloodstone
#10 is possibly serpentine

I'll take #9 the bloodstone as well as #4 and #6 if they are big enough to get a few cabs from and the price is reasonable

#1 - ya got me... #2 - Large pattern Crazy Lace Agate. #3 - Rooster Tail Jaggate ("Jasper-Agate") :-) #4 - Laguna Crazy Lace Agate. #5 - Maybe Bloody Basin Agate. #6 - Not sure - the back side looks like Lysite Agate, but the front side with the black would be a habit I haven't seen, before. #7 - Dunno, maybe a moss agate from Utah or something like Eagle Rock moss? #8 - Definitely Lysite Agate, from Wyoming - just got finished slabbing a chunk. #9 - Definitely Bloodstone. #10 - One of those funky jades from Washington, maybe California, most likely Washington. Thanks all. I really appreciate the help. Rick, #6 is definitely not lysite, seems more like a jasper to me but no idea what kind thought it was especially interesting with that distinct pattern. #5 seems more brecciated than any bloody basin ive seen but I could be wrong since ive never seen old stock bloody basin. I had suspected bloodstone on #9 but never seen it with the pink color in it. #2 looks like it has what could pass for sagginite in it but just along the top edge. radio, 9,4, and 6 are all definitely big enough for more than a few cabs. 6 is the smallest and I think it's at least fist sized. We can work out the prices. Send me a pm and I'll weigh them in the meantime and see what size box I can fit them in.

diane, you might try a scratch test on them to see who is harder than steel.

Good idea Scott. I didn't think of that especially on the green one. I think serpentine is softer than jade. 70karmen, I know its not epidote, no crystal structure and too light in color but thanks for the input.

the green one and the banded ones. Banded stuff can also be "travertine" or "onyx" both names applied to banded calcium carbonates.

Neither one will scratch with a knife.

is the end of the green one actually "broken"? If it is broken and not sliced, jade is out. Very hard to break and when it does the break is never clean.

I'll have to look but I think it was broken.
