Could very well be nephrite jade if it can't be scratched with a common nail, serpentine if it can be scratched. Both often have a weathered whitish or reddish exterior that grades to the green tones inside. I have very similar slabs from the Porterville, CA jade fields..Mel

I scratched it with a nail and the light exterior gets powdery (not the light part you can see in the picture) but the outer crust. The dark center gets marked a little but can be rubbed out with my finger, no gouge.
