Ok I got some snake skin agates and various other rocks tumbling now, my question is, is a perfect tumble a completely round ball or oval shaped rock, a lot of these rocks have unique character..should I just get them smooth as possible?

Perfect tumble is whatever you want.
Whatever suits you, whatever pleases you.

Dittos to what parfive says. Most everything I do is well rounded, but mostly that is what I like. I have seen some on here that were left much closer to their "natural" shape and thought they looked awesome.
Haven't ever tumbled snakeskin, but have heard it often very plain on the inside. So leaving some of the shape on the outside may be the right call. Especially if it looks good to you.
