Does anyone recognize the source of this water-level agate? I know where it's from but I wonder if anyone here does. It may be a more common type than I think so I'm prepared to be "educated."

If I could see the outer agate.....Could be an odd Montana agate...Have seen a few with total waterlines running through them..

Good eye! Right the first time. I deliberately showed only the cut face because the outer shape would give the source away. I've seen a lot of Montana, some including partial water-level pattern, but this is the only one like this to come my way. As far as I can tell it contains no dendrites.

I believe this is a Montana Agate. I have collected many with the same pattern. Collected on the Yellowstone River. Known as layered agate.

Yes, it's Montana. Fossilman nailed in in the first response. I've seen quite a bit of Montana but not this type. Live and learn and learn and learn...

I cut a piece just like that last night. I find way too much of it.
