Did you leave any rocks on the beach? I find a lot of similar rocks in Lake Huron and Lake Superior. I can't really tell you what any of those are for sure.

This was just "a drop in the bucket" as they say Rob!! lmao!! Most of them are pretty small and will probably end up in the driveway, but the colors said pick me pick me!! I had zero expectations of finding anything worthy of bringing home or being able to cut; so I was surprised by how fast that bucket filled up!

They look so much prettier wet and in the sun. Sometimes I get home and wonder what I was thinking when I look at some of my rocks. I really like tumbling them though. They don't all turn out perfect, but they're already almost done with the rough grind so they're done really quickly. The variety plus the fact that you picked them up yourself makes them fun too. I went out today for some Petoskeys and did really well, plus I found a few pudding stones, I big piece of unakite that's in the saw now, and a few miscellaneous tumbles that I had no intention of bringing home. I'm finally enjoying spring.

This is the closest approximation of Llanoite I have seen outside of Texas. and from Texas Perhaps Sabre52 will have some knowledge to share.

Actually, I think I know what that one is. I think it's ryholite porphyry. It's thick on the beaches on Superior. I don't find it in Lake Huron though, so I wasn't sure that's what it was.

agznoinc, maybe because I am so new to it I tend to get 'rock fever' when I am out collecting. pick it up now, repent later. I am trying to be more discriminating but I hate the thought of letting a good one get away and I don't know the good, the bad, and the ugly apart much yet. Going to have to learn quick, we have a very small yard for placement of rejects! Love that grey and white oval one... and the sunny yellow one with the little bits of green there near the bottom of the photo. can't help with names though. that rhyolite stuff is marvelous!

I just looked up pictures of lianite. It really looks almost identical to Gene's rock and the rocks on the beaches of Lake Superior.
