Got some Copper in matrix from David this is a cab from the first slab! LOVE this stuff! THANKS David! Sorry for the bad lighting took it on table! Will get more pictures of the slabs! Question I polish with Tin most of the time what should I use on the copper to keep it from turning green? Some king of sealer?

Nice cab! I made a similar one, and tried Renaissance Wax as a sealant, no luck, it still turns green (a little more slowly). You might google around the "copper patina" forums adn see what they are using to preserve patinas, that should do it (basically I think you need to keep oxygen off of the rock). Funny enough, it's the black parts that turn green on mine, not the shiny copper parts.

Somebody said Bees Wax mixed with the polish but I have not tried it before.

If you use bee's wax heat the stone first, melt the wax onto the stone then polish with a soft cloth as the wax starts to harden. Not sure about it not turning green but you will get better penetration that way. I used to use it on soft stone carvings. Jim

Wow! There's a lot of copper in that! I have some red jasperish stuff with copper. It hasn't turned green. I also made a copper pendant out of it. I gave it a patina and store it in a zip lock bag. The copper in the stone is still shiny copper. If it gets dull, I will use a polish cloth on it and it will be fine for awhile again.

fine copper cab !!
I got a slab of copper in a green matrix looking forward to cabbing
disappointing to hear the wax didn't preserve plus I'm wondering if anyone as ideas about silver chains ?
I've all but ruined the one I got for Christmas tarnished and just doesn't clean up anymore I suppose the plating is rubbing thin ?
do more expensive chains last longer? or is it that my neck is just to rough?

Hey kap, Glad you got to cutting that stuff already. I have tentatively made plans to go on a collecting trip this weekend some 30 miles away from where I picked your copper at. Not sure what I will find but will make a trip report when I get back. The trip is in Michigan's U.P. Now I have to keep work from getting in the way. Got some Copper in matrix from David this is a cab from the first slab! LOVE this stuff! THANKS David@
