With all the new members showing up I figured I would take a couple snapshots of what hanging out here at RTH could lead to. It was not even 3 years ago when I showed up here with nothing but a single 3 pound tumbler and a whole bunch of questions. I have lost track of how much rock can be going at one time but its way more than any sane person would ever want to clean out each week. All of the rotary barrels are Lortones and I have never had a leak. There's 2 more single 3 pound tumblers that are not shown but this is the majority Its a small space but a whole lot of work gets done in it. (Slab saws stay in the garage) Thanks for looking Chuck

Now i like that look. How is the noise ? And do you vent air to the outside .

Now i like that look. How is the noise ? And do you vent air to the outside . The noise is not bad at all. It seems the same whether I have 12 pounds or 60 rolling. I can always here a faint hum from the vibe tumblers but never hear the rotaries even right above them. No vent to speak of. I use over the wheel drip feed even on my genie so I always have any abundance of water flow and never any rock dust. Chuck

Thats a crazy number of tumblers, Chuck. I can hear my QT66 way more than I'd like to upstairs. The finished part of my basement has fiberglass insulation and a drop ceiling, but the part where the tumblers are has nothing. When I insulated the other part, I was disappointed at how little noise the insulation blocked. The drop ceiling made a huge difference though. Those floor joists transfer a lot of sound.

In less than three years, that's insane !! But it's so cool. Look's like you have everything you need, but I'm sure you got a want list as well.

That is a fine shop. And you know how to make some fine stuff w/it. I want to come back in another life w/a giant Lotto after seeing your tumbles. And a discovery of Indonesian grade coral in a Florida river.

Dang Chuck, that is a serious addiction. I see, what, 70 plus pounds of rotary running? Sweet, sweet set up you got there.

Great shop. Looks like you have enough capacity to tumble all the rocks that it will take me 10 years to get through...

WOW Chuck! Now I know what to strive for. That's a killer setup. Be careful what you wish for. Saturday morning barrel clean outs don't end till Saturday afternoon. For the most part every rock gets looked at every week. Great shop. Looks like you have enough capacity to tumble all the rocks that it will take me 10 years to get through... Its been a month or so since I have had them all full. I have found that 40-50 pounds is about all I want to handle while working 50 hours a week. Chuck

No kidding, Chuck. Two 12-pound barrels is plenty for me every week. But they probably have 25 pounds of rock between them...
