I don't know why there wouldn't be... A grand time is had by all.
It seems the last few BBQs have been scheduled for the Saturday of the week the PowWow is held. This is because that's when the largest rock crowds are there, as well as field trips the local club puts on.
I don't know if Quartzsite's rock club has it set in stone yet (ha ha!), but it is normally the week of the Martin Luther King holiday. Looks like that is on Monday, January 19 in 2015. Based on that assumption, PowWow would run Wed through Sunday, Jan 21 - 25 , 2015. But don't quote me on that.
So Saturday, January 24, 2015? We can set a date once PowWow date has been established. I'll try to find out if the PowWow dates have been set yet.

I'm conflicted this time... last year I was very disappointed by the selection of rough rock (or lack there-of) at the end of the month and had several people tell me that the best stuff is gone by the first week. That being said the highlight of the trip was seeing friends from the board and making a few new ones. I guess I'll either have to go early and stay a month (yeah right...) or go twice right? haha.

21st through 25th is correct according to my contract. We'll be there (Pow Wow) next year spaces 384, 385, and 386. Party at Tony's the 24th. Should we invite Tony? We have to, he's the chef.

OK, good. I will have to put in dates for vacation soon. We have to put in 6 months out.
I plan to be in AZ this winter for an epic rock hunting trip and seeing you all is a part of the plan.

Tommy, there were more than a few folks that made two trips out. From what I've heard from others, yes, the best stuff was gone in the first week.
So decisions, decisions... I know if you can only make it one, you'll pick us over the rough - right? Right? The highlight? Lol.

Hmmmm... tough choice ... we'll you see it's complicated because I've got this 18" saw now that I didn't have before ... it's even more important to get some good rough to cut ... you'll understand won't you?? haha just kidding - seeing you guys and @shotgunner and everyone else is a definite highlight and one I wouldn't miss for the world. You have to promise me a butt-kicking rockhounding trip though - one from which I will come back with more rough than I know what to do with.

A lot of SoCal people go multiple times as do the AZ folks. Those that have to travel cross country are not so lucky. First day of Pow Wow is always a mad house but lots of good rough if you get there soon enough. We found a guy unloading jade with low prices on opening morning. Most was already sold to other dealers by the time we got there. Tony and other rough dealers will have plenty of good rough at Desert Gardens.

Somehow, I think that if there is a rockhounding trip, you will end up with some nice stuff. It seems to find you. Wish I could make these trips. DH hardly ever gets time off and it's such a long trip for us.

Diane and I go several times during the month. We are the lucky AZ members close enough to do this. I have found good rough through out the month. You just have to take your time and look. Many estate people go there and you have to spend the time looking through the slabs. You usually find a few good ones! The rock hunts also prove to be fruitful. I know of a few good places to hunt and so do others. Hope to see you in 2015! Sheri

Well that is good because I guess I really need to meet you because apparently I am "just as bad as" you, whatever that means.
Since it was a woman of incredible talents who said it, it must mean that both of us are sexy beasts.
