I had a friend of my daughters that is getting married this fall call me today and ask if I would make 5 knives and 5 pendents all matching for gifts for their groomsmen and bridesmaids! She is very sweet(one that can bat her eyes and smile and you will agree to do anything) and with out thinking I said sure I will be glad to do them! I checked and I have five 3 blade trapper knives with scroll work so now the problem was finding enough matching slabs to get that many scales and pendents from! I picked a chunk of Leopard Jasper so far seems to be good solid slabs. Now to get to cutting I guess all my free time just went away!

Well back to the drawing board! Material breaks to easy when I cut it thin enough for scales. Going to try some Aventurine now.

NM Stone supply was kind enough to allow me to do a little collecting on his mining claim last spring, so here's my pay it forward. Want some candy rock for those knives and pendants? And NM stone Supplies website for those of you who want to buy some is: www.nmstonesupply.com

If you can give me a week, I can cut you enough for 5 knives from this rock. Your usable space is 3 x 2.5, enough for 2 sides. Check your messages....

Very impressive cabbing. I am sure everyone that receives one will be thrilled. I just bought my first knife blank and took measurements. The slabs I need will be .105" thick so my idea of using pudding stone is pretty much out the window. I'll have to wait for some harder more stable material to custom slab to that thickness. I might have to pick your brain a bit more when the time comes.
