I am curious if anyone knows him and why there is no info available to correct the multiple typos in his book which send the prospector anywhere from 2 or 3 miles to 20 miles in the wrong direction in the middle of the Arizona desert.
I have hundreds of hours of research into the spots in this book and unfortunately will not find all of them again because I deleted a doc by mistake. I know that I am not the only one who has found these potentially deadly errors.

Can't help you but found old rock guides mileage depended on author's odometer. When I put bigger tires on my jeep all my mileages were off one mile every ten.

That is true, but this is only the GPS errors. I have not found any by driving them yet. Eventually I will hit one, but the GPS errors could be bad news. It is fine if you are going from point A to point B as per the directions in the book, but if you are coming from the other way, those coordinates could put you in a bad place. If the unmarked forest road you turn off on is 10 miles to the wrong direction as directed by the GPS, you could end up on a bad road even though the book says you can drive out the other side.

After doing a Google search with an attitude, I found one good review which says the same thing I have. Someone is going to get killed eventually. It took a long time to read because each post was its own page. I also stumbled onto the correct Facebook page for him. I seriously doubt he will reply.

Can't do that at work. I am limited to Google maps and MS Word. I killed the docs before I sent a copy home. Didn't mean to but I can only have just so many things on the computer before someone starts getting nosy. You see, as I sit at my desk all day, babysitting child molesters and gang-bangers, along with a few murderers, I go though the GPS coordinates for the sites and follow them to civilization on Google maps. There are a number of places where the coordinates show that you should be somewhere else. Actually, I will eventually find some of the errors again by chance, just because when I see the fixed book scan it will maybe stand out. I will not likely find all of them again though.
As for meeting up is concerned, you are one of the prime people I want to meet at Q.

one thing maybe to keep in mind is that when the book was written road and other conditions and other items listed could have changed radically due to storms, construction, change of ownership of the property or any other number of things. I doubt any of the guides available to folks at this time are 100 percent accurate and we should probably use them with "a grain of salt" and as a mere guide rather than something that as "once was- or perceived as being"- by one person will always be just the same as that person described. Being prepared when going rock hunting is up to the individual and taking common sense precautions such as carrying water, letting people know where you will be and when you will be back, etc. are up to the individual and not the responsibility of the author of a book, especially if it was written any time ago. Guides and descriptions written for my area are almost useless just a few years now since they have been written because of such changes. proceed with caution, even or maybe especially because the book in hand is not necessarily completely accurate. Times will change, the book won't. best wishes.

Nope, it was a lack of proof reading. You have to have an editor other than yourself for effective editing. He did all of this himself.

I did find one today. #87 Fluorescent Minerals off U.S. Route 80 should have the following GPS coordinates. 32 05 21 / -108 58 05 This is probably the most benign of the typos because it couldn't take you anywhere at all with the way he has it.

Found another one that was only off by about 100 miles.
#79 Porphyry at the W.A. Ranch Well should be 32.493827° / -109.707950
