Pretty scenery, but Dave is trying to keep the rocks to himself.

Amiable photo Dave. It looks like you molested the tree behind you and are now headed for the camera man. I now take back my $6 offer. Nice haul, .6 of a tail gate.

I was all set to try to drive you up to $6.50 and you're not even going to dicker? I think I can take him! 0.6 of a tailgate? What about the unopened bag back behind? I figure I got about 80 pounds. Oh, I get it, only about 1/10th your usual 800 pound haul. You win.

Geez...tough crowd here!
Here are photos of some of the agate Chris and I collected on our field trip with the Southern Utah Rock Club members to the Brian Head area. Most of the agate we collected is fractured, but we did manage to find a few pieces that should be slab-able. A lot of the pieces are in the yard right now as decoration. We are going to throw the smaller pieces and chips into the tumblers and polish 'em up.Hmmm...wait a minute. I seem to be having trouble getting my photos to upload to this post. I resized them to be smaller and they still aren't attaching, dang it.

Gina, this website ran out of attachment space years ago. To post pictures you must upload them to your space on Photobucket or Flicker, copy the image location from there, then on this reply area, click on the "insert Image button" and paste the location there + a brief description. As I have not yet had my rabies shot, I'll do it for you. RTH members: one problem about Brian head Agate is that it is now high above sea level and therefore in the freezing/thawing fracture zone. The good thing about Brianhead agate is that all fractures are readily apparent and slabs easily separate into free-form shaped cabbing pieces that are fairly fracture free.

Yeah, I have a few big hunks of Brianhead material around the yard. Right up their with AZ rainbow wood as a blade breaker. Those fractures can really make a rock blow apart in he saw. Too much cold and snow I guess. As mentioned though, if you can get a solid hunk or get it slabbed with the fractures, I'd just use the Morgan Hill Poppy technique and drop it on soft ground and cab the broken off solid sections....Mel
