There are several other web site out there that worth a look at also. Steam casting is pretty low tech way of getting a fairly decent lost wax casting without the expense of a vacuum or centrifugal casting machine.

I first learned with steam casting because I couldn't afford a centrifuge (35 years ago). I found the success rate to be about 90% with steam casting. It went to 99% with a centrifuge. Bob

Wow, just watched a really scary you tube video of a young couple doing their first steam cast. They brought their young children AND their acetylene tank and torch into their kitchen and did their casting on top of their natural gas stove. Good times!

This is an interesting read. I doubt I will cast as I have to many other things I am doing. But a very interesting read I learned alot

Well Lee it could be worse, they could have been cooking crack in front of the kids. All in all a pretty good video, but common folks some PPE would be nice
