Fan shaped on the top. Root side upper left in photo. 15 pounds. Well formed except in center where white pulpy area is. Blue clay in hole. Pressure washed. Close up of splintery skin. Tubes split on left side, cross cut on right side

Nice I cut this one and love the contrast between the solid top and the rougher bottom! Some of those partially formed corals are very interesting. That is a good example. People mystified by them. beware, addictive

more lamps in the making! I used to make decent money selling plain pedestal mounted sawn/polished coral. Dang jewelry biz is so competitive. Decorators spend the $$$. Always looking for white back then. Or raspy looking rock to contrast against orderly/clean enviro. Those corals held their own against many other types of specimen rocks. Nice to sell a rock because it is deformed or not AAA grade.

Nice I cut this one and love the contrast between the solid top and the rougher bottom! Gravity must have an effect on silicification. Often ones side is way different than the other side. Usually the center is different than the outer edge, makes sense. No telling what you will find.
