Wgt. 1.1 oz. 3 mm H, 2 ½ mm W, 4 mm L Non Magnetic Non conductive, Wire brush with brass dremel and turns brass in color, Wire brush with metal dremel and turns metal in color. Oxidizes quickly. Removed ½ mm Oxidized coating which had shiny exterior like cold roof tar but as tumbled became a dull surface. I wire brushed out of curiosity and the oxidized finish flaked off the nugget.

Bert, How heavy is this stone?.. I mean does it have any sort of weight.. as compared to other stones you might have. If you say it oxidized fast.. must be a slight hint of copper or slag of some sort.. Cause I was going to say it looks like Jet..

My first reaction is hematite. Though iron-based it is usually nonmagnetic/antiferromagnetic (or only very weakly magnetic) in its natural form. The "magnetic hematite" sold is usually something other than hematite.

Hematite was my first thought as well. The rougher areas on it resembles botryoidal hematite to some degree

KA3VEC 73'S N6DDD formerly KI6BCC before upgrading to general I love the D104 in your QRZ pic and have 3 of them in the shack including one Silver Eagle. Is that a Swan boat anchor on the shelf? I kept an old 3 drifty around for several years and loved to play on the thing. Current setup is Kenwood TS940S and Kenwood TL 922A going into a SteppIR BigIR vertical. My fave band is 17 meters

D104 for sure.. Keep it for looks as it goes well the old boat anchor. My 350 has been refurbished and when I go on line it is with PSK31 and that was last May 2013.
