I have a large box of this stuff and currently have 12 pounds in the UV-18 and another 12 in a Thumbler's 1B
If they don't work out polishing, I have Aluminum and Cerium Oxides in 1000 and will try them next.
Pretty hard stuff but we'll see.
Are the "1000" grits "Polish"??
Or do you all use smaller 1200+ stuff?

1000 grits would be a pre-polish. Steps I use ... 60/90 or 80 grit for rough grind , 240 grit, 600 grit, then 1000 grit (optional based on the rock). For polish I use the Rockshed AO polish but have also used cerium oxide and micro alumina.
I like to use the 1000 before polish on rocks that are translucent to transparent. Also on rocks that are 6 or less on the mohs scale.
Happy tumbling!!

I have a huge amount of translucent stuff in the works. What grit# is the Rockshed polish? (AO) Chris/0CD

The AO polish is measured in microns and it is 1.5 microns in size. 1.5 microns is equivalent to F17,500. So roughly ten times finer than our 1000 grits. See more here ... forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/post/613555/threadP.S. OCD challenged as well

Wow, that just taught me a bunch. Off to order some actual "polish"
Will try "The Rock Shed" first.
