Tiger, Try this. Instead of using photobuckets generated image URL.. right click the image and get the image code itself.. "Copy image Address" (http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n422/tigerryes/DSCF4384.jpg) Then post in the image's code in the add picture/image icon.. As for your progress.. I would suggest that you cut, break, shape or even pretumble without any grit. I feel that 80% of these stones are not worth continuing and you'd be wasting you breath as well as the grit if you continue on this path. These river rocks have way to many pockets or cracks and one would not achieve a good tumbler. Thou in your second image, that stone is worth continuing to tumbler..

Thanks for the heads up on picture posting, not used to it through photobucket etc.

Hi Tiger
The white stone is Quartz, hard to get a good finish on it if its very fractured.
Looks like I'll be posting you some agates on top of the polish. I've just got 4kg of Botswana, and I'll let you have some local stuff too.
Regards Ian

OH WOW, how cool. been down looking for agates locally here but only found a couple of extremely small bits, I mean tiny too. Tons of Jasper, well i think thats what it is anyway, lovely deep red and mostly with tiny little black flecks in it, can't wait to see it polished. I did pull the beach stuff out, wash and dry to see how i was going, but only a couple of small spots are shiny at the moment, think this pumice i got for polishing really isn't up to it. i know it all takes time but thought i would see a bit of shine after a week.

First of all.. Great work see I knew you could get those images up.. Second.. Not all the glimmers is golden. Unless You've had the stones tested which have the golden shimmers.. Could be Pyrite..(Fools Gold)

That last photo looks a lot like common opal or opal wood across the top.
Always a learning curve and none of started at the top. You will get it figured out and end up with some bad a.. rocks. Jim
