Beautiful work Bob! I've been doing several cabs out of this stuff lately and it's not that easy to work with. Turns everything black haha. Finishes beautifully though.

Great looking cab! I really like that you left the crystal pocket. It really adds character to the piece.....Mel

A quick question ! How do you keep the marcasite from turning to dust or power. I have collected marcasite nodules down in L A, Lower Alabama and even in closed containers over years it goes bad. Just wondering if you did something to seal the marcasite.

I didn't do anything beyond regular cabbing steps. I haven't had any problems with the marcasite corroding. Maybe its the very dry Central California climate. OH, did I mention that it is dry here? We've been weird weather here lately. It has been cloudy and rather cool - 85 to 95 as opposed to the 105 - 109 a couple of weeks ago. Probably El Nino influences bringing in the clouds. Bob

Just wondering if you did something to seal the marcasite. Could be that you might be referring to a pure marcasite nodule versus an agate with marcasite plumes which is what this cab is. bobby1 nice cab btw. I like marcasite. We have some nice stuff here locally (SoCal). Similar to the Nipomo stuff but not quite as nice imho.

Yes, The marcasite is pure in form. I was told that this marcasite has more sulpher in it campared to pyrite. Thank you Vugs for the information ! I have "learnt" learned something very interesting.
