Hi All,
I'm excited! I got my new CabKing 8V1 last week, and finally got it set up last weekend. It's a beefy, large machine, but should be wonderful! I've done quite a bit of cutting and grinding on it already (it came with a free trim saw attachment, thus the cutting), and it's been smooth as butter. I particularly love that I don't have to splurt up dirty water onto the wheels while I'm grinding.(It uses a continuous feed fresh water system).
I expect to start cranking out cabs on a daily basis!
The only modifications I'm going to make are: 1. Get a 360 grit hard wheel. The 220 grit is still a bit rough for some of the fragile Charoite that I work with. I ordered it from Han Lapidary, so I'll probably get it in a month or so. 2. Considering getting 8000, 14000, and 50,000 grit resin wheels. Haven't quite made up my mind on this yet. 3. Getting a few more canvas polishing pads so I can use something other than 14,000 grit diamond paste. (One pad per grit). 4. I might end up getting a full set of the flat lap adapters.
I also got a Foredom and a complete set of diamond burrs from 80 grit up to 600, plus multiple soft bobs and diamond pastes. This is for the carving I'm starting to do.
Thanks for listening to me ramble! Jeff

Congrats! I had a 360 soft wheel made for me by Johnson Bros. to use between the 220 hard and 600 soft. Cut the time removing scratches in half. I have resin wheels up to 50000 and love them. I just bought a used 8 inch Highland Park unit I'm restoring to mount my 3000, 8000, 14000 and 50000 on so I won't have to change out wheels. Got it cheap so what the heck!
I see lots of fun in your future...lol.

Excellent!!!! You sound excited Might I suggest that you hold off on the hard 360 until you break in your wheels with some agate? After breaking in that 220, you might not need it.
