What i have learned from this board on how to get a great shine is to make sure pits and cracks and no longer on the rocks. You can put them in polish stage again and they might get a bit more of a shine on them. But I would put them back in the 60/90 stage to get get rid of those pits .

We learn from every batch, so if this is your first, save a couple of your very favorite pieces for future reference - you'll be amazed at how much better your batches will get the more you read up on things here with the accumulated decades (maybe eons) of knowledge that the veteran rockhounds here share with all of us newbies. Follow the timetables & recipes- patience is the hardest part on your first few batches, I know cause I was there myself not too long ago.

wow thanks guys, at least I'm on the right track. I know this is not a quick hobby and I can be fairly patient. And yes being my first batch I just collected anything that looked pretty, lol. I'm learning well, you guys are great teachers and i'm grateful for all your help. I have now got another 'load' started in course grit and have been more selective in my stones, discarding anything too pitted.
