I've been getting a couple done at a time. My wheels are getting slower. Boy, it was sure nice when they were new! The rain finally ended and I got some preforming done today. Got some circle oj ready to go as a request and some outstanding tabu tabu among others... but here are the ones I finished. The purple doesn't show up too well, with it backlit but this is amethyst sage. It's not a real dark purple, but it has lots of bushes. Dino- can never have enough OJ- big and juicy a little pink Peruvian opal dryhead agate Morrisonite Montana agate from Tommy This was from a slabbette, after I shaped the best parts it was almost a perfect pear. Peruvian chrysocolla in quartz- awesome color! another oj- smaller Thanks for looking Tomorrow is a full day to cab before I put Gene up for the weekend.

Ooh, let's see let's see, so hard to pick a favorite as your cabs are always so spectacular. Really like the Ammy sage but I keep coming back to the Dryhead. Thinks that one is my favorite.....Mel

He doesn't say anything, but I just as soon not be rude to him on his days off. The soft wheels are getting worn. I'm gonna turn them around. It takes forever to finish a cab. It was so nice when they were new and I could do 10-12 a day. Now I get 6 done if I'm lucky.

Are theses pics with the new DLSR camera Tela? Great cabs! Yup, these were taken with the Dslr. I love that I don't have to do any post processing if I don't want to. Just take a picture and crop. Saves me lots of time.

Here's a secret, Tela! Want to fool the DH and still have a rock'n weekend? Pressure cook him a meal. You got me concerned about the soft wheels wearing out as they wea down I was under the impression that the grit is evenly graded through out the rubber on Nova Wheels So as the rubber wears down and old grit flies off new grit is exposed until the last drop. In theory they stay healthily viable until the end. Its the 80 & 220 hard wheels I noticed that the efficiency decreases from wear. My theory there is that: the diamond points on the sintered wheel go dull. With out new sharp diamond points to replace the old ones your essentially rubbing against a smooth surface. Albeit a hard one. Enjoy your rock’n Weekend Ed p.s. well if have to cook pressure the way to go

I am not even going to try to pick a favorite from a batch this good. great workmanship. How long do you think your soft wheels last you? I am in the process of replacing all of mine right now but its hard to judge when to do it. I find it very hard to tell which wheel is the bad one unless there are visible signs like a worn through spot.

I don't need to replace all of mine now, but the 280 is having a realllllllly hard time with agates and other very hard stones. It took forever to do amy sage and blood stone- both full of chalcedony. The wheel itself has a lot of wear left and it is doing the job, but it takes too long for my liking. It is really slowing me down. I think when a wheel is totally shot, it is visible. Then there is the case of how long do you want to take to finish a cab. Time is money, as they say. I am not happy about being slowed down. I'll probably use this through the season and try to turn it around and see if that helps, but after the winter, I'll need a new wheel. I sometimes wish I had a hard wheel between 220 and 280 or a hard 280. Some stones really need it. It would save wear on the 280 nova, too.

The first OJ is my favorite.
I use a 220 Nova. It removes scratches like a 280 but is faster. That is the wheel I overuse. I probably should be spending more time on the 220 hard and just use the 220 Nova for scratch removal. I'm hoping my touch will improve. The 220 hard is still a little blocky and the 220 Nova cuts and rounds better.

My 280 nova wheel takes the brunt of the abuse trying to remove the scratches left by the 220 galaxy plus I find that I push harder on the 280 then any other wheel because that's the wheel where I try to smooth out the facets and ridges left after the hard wheels. For medium hardness stones that transition seems fine but when working with a Montana agate or a brazillian agate another wheel in between sure would help. The only issue there is the added time required to hit one more wheel. with my 8000 and 14000 wheels I am already hitting 8 wheels and then a canvas pad with 50,000 for every cab. Chuck

It would work great for me because I do all of my shaping on the 80. I barely use the 220 hard- only to get scratches out from the 80. I'll have to give this some serious thought. Thank you.
