Greetings, Does anyone have any opinions, preferences, experiences or whatever else on what they prefer in using a slab saw. I am going to get a new 16 inch very soon. I will be cutting soft calcite, sodalite, mook and such along with hard stuff like Brazilian agate, black and moss among others. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Dave.

I prefeer the power feed cuts the same all the time. But my old 14" saw is a weight feed and it will cut you just have to watch closer

Dave:I like power feed too but don't like single speed units. Multiple speed units or multiple pulley wheel set ups so you can slow the cut on harder, tougher materials seem to work real well. Single speed units can really bog down when you cut into a hunk of jade or Brazilian Agate. That is one situation where weight feed units can work pretty well as you can lighten the weight to slow the feed for harder materials...mel

Thanks Mel, I have had some tell me at shows and such that the power feed can be rough on blade life if you cut hard stuff. Now I know why. I will check what this model has. Dave.
