I cut a few rocks the past couple of nights. I'm not sure if this is good pudding stone or not. I need @drummondislandrocks opinion. I think the stuff with white matrix is considered the best, but this stuff has a lot going on in it. [/url] Untitled The middle is sort of gold colored. I've heard that pudding stone can contain gold, but I'm pretty sure this isn't actually gold. I really like this unakite. I'm going to have to make a Christmas necklace for my wife.

Nice looking slabs Rob.
My opinion is that the darker matrix does not sell very good for jewelry. I have had some just like those you cut that I epoxied for coasters and those all sold in no time. If you look at your slab pictures try to imagine what part you would cab. Each pendant has to have one good red jasper in it so you would probably only get one cab from each slab. The slab may be worth more then the cab. Those are just opinions though.

That's a good idea to make coasters, but I'm not sure if the shape and size are quite right. Have you seen them with the yellow color in them before? It doesn't really make them look better, but is it unusual?

dang, you're getting me hooked on unakite. Now I watch for it too. great idea for Christmas! That matrix in the puddingstone/conglomerate looks rosy in the pictures! So cool that there are so many pieces packed in there, and that you have the added color of the gold. maybe pyrite? I have lots of locally collected rocks that seem to have been infilled with pyrite. Very interesting example of puddingstone just as is.

Interesting conglomerates. Just taking stab at those golden colored areas, I'd guess maybe a mica or possibly calcite. Is it noticeably softer than the surrounding matrix? Both calcite and mica are soft materials and are easily scratched.
