I'm going to be making sterling silver bracelets in the native american style. The kind without a clasp, with a gap that the wrist slips into. What's a good length for the Sterling? Lynn

If possible customize the length to the individual who'll wear it. In his book Robert von Neumann recommends a length of 6.5 to 7 inches, with an opening of one inch. A commercial gauge I bought years ago shows metal length: Babies, 3.5 inches; children, 4 inches; ladies, small, 4.75 inches; ladies, large, 5.25 inches; men, small, 5;75 inches; men, large, 6.25 inches. I always made mine to fit individual wearers and measured carefully. The standard length for ladies' clasp bracelets is 7 inches.

My wrist measures 6".
For fold formed cuffs, I use 6". Convenient because silver and copper come in 6" by x". Some of those 6" are lost into the folds. Works.
Haven't done it yet , but I would measure the wearer's wrist, and subtract one inch.

Thanks for the replies.
I can't measure the wearer's wrist because I'm making them to sell at shows.
It looks like 6.5 - 7" is common. Then subtract 1-1.25" for the opening. Lynn
