I have been hoarding odd stuff over the summer. It is raining out so I took an indoor photo and got some bounce off the rocks here:
The 2 metallic looking ones really look like this:
and this
the veining in them seems very metallic, pyrite maybe? I don't know what the stuff is, maybe a form of chalcedony? but it really seems to glow!
The first photo shows an odd feldspar breccia on the far right side, seems to have broken and filled almost immediately with white quartz like stuff. Then seems to have been coated with the quartz too, see how reflective the whole thing is? It is very weather /lake worn but still tight and seems very solid. This would cut and tumble, I am sure!
and then there's this odd dotted stuff... it is in orderly rows completely filled in between by mostly red (something) and has just a few tiny flecks of black here and there. seemingly metallic, or at least reflective Crystals of some sort! Anybody recognize it? Your comments and input are valued, I'm completely at a loss! Thank you!

Hi snowmom I’m not sure what your specimen are but I wanted to show you this peach colored quartzy rock you sent after I cut the heel. I was wondering if this rock was the one you posted, - that I said-- I get fooled by oxidation ? No oxidation here. Peach colored all the way through. Peach colored quartz are fairly rare. Wonder what causes that? What are the black flecks?

Indeed. Those rocks look kosher. Therefore I'll name them Chaim, Mordecai, Shlomo, Avigail, Shalom ....
If you need more, please advise.

I knew I could count on you Shotgunner! mr.mohs, I think those are some sort of feldspar/sunstone... Not sure what the black specks are... we have a lot of iron here, perhaps the rose color comes from the iron(rust) seeping into it, and the specks are the source? I can only guess at all of this stuff, no experience or education, only what I find on the internet and this board (thank you all!) to help clarify. I do find a lot of rocks that have different color outside than inside, never know what you will find when you open a Lake Huron rock. anybody else have comments or input?
