Hey Y'all... I need some advice. I have a couple hundred pounds of Woodward Ranch agate that I need to process and I want to buy a new 18lb vibrating tumbler to get started. I've found one that is reasonably priced but not sure if it's made for wet tumbling. The details are pretty vague on the vendor's site. I'm looking at the Thumlers 18lb Ultra-Vibe but I'm not sure if it's made for wet tumbling. Does anyone here have experience with this make and model?

The rock model should say "Industrial". Bowl and springs and I think the motor is more powerful too but it has been many years since I sold them.

Thanks Chuck and John. I was able to confirm what both of you have said by calling Thumlers. The Rock Shed seems to have the best price going for the Industrial model.
John... do you sell any vibrating tumblers still? Still have my GP-6 btw... :-)

I sell GyRoc on the web site and Diamond Pacific over the phone. I remember helping you load the GP6 at the Austin Show. I was glad to see your post and wondered if you still had the GP6.

I have a UV-18 and have run several loads of preform and shaped Woodward ranch material but hardly any nodular material. My limited experience using Mark"s polishing sequence shows good hard Woodward plume agate polished very well but softer material undercuts and crystal pockets on the edge usually vibrate or break out. I wish I could provide more advice but have been trying different material during each batch to see how it polishes. My vib mix is 50/50 which includes small media and includes a good combination of sizes.

John - What's that Web site address again? Victor - I'm basically just "windowing" biscuits that I've collected over the years. I want to see what's going on in them before cutting. That was how Trey Woodward did it...

Trey used a big Viking too. My website is conveniently below my signature on every post.

From what ive heard (correct me if i'm wrong) the vibe is for already round stones. If you want to process (round) a lot of material very fast the lortone 20 and 40 lb models work great. I have the 40 lb capacity tumbler with a single barrel. It does some nice work although it is costly.. I got mine used for $500 and I have had it running since the day I got it... I'm about to start pre polish for all the rock I have.
